The CDC says that "Correct and consistent
use of latex condoms can reduce the risk of genital herpes, because herpes
symptoms can occur in both male and female genital areas that are covered or
protected by a latex condom. However, outbreaks can occur in areas that are
not covered by a condom."
Because barrier contraceptives must be used
properly on every occasion when there is sexual contact, the Center for the
Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) would like to point out some of the
advantages as well as disadvantages of this type of STI prevention.
Some advantages to barrier contraceptives
such as condoms include the fact that they come in different types, shapes and
sizes to suit most peoples' needs and preferences, and are easily available
One of the major downsides specifically
regarding male condoms is the fact that they can affect the naturalness of
sex. This can be addressed by making its usage part of foreplay. Some feel
that there is a decrease in sensation. It can sometimes slip off or split.
"Condoms are great, and I use them each
time I have sex. But, it really can be annoying if it, you know slips off or
whatever. Or, if it breaks. That's just not cool. I wish at times that there
was a surefire way of pregnancy prevention and STD prevention all rolled into
one. - M. Gonzales, Los Angeles
The CBCD would like to remind the public
that consistent and correct usage of barrier contraceptives is the best
method, other than sexual abstention, for herpes and HPV prevention. However,
even this method leaves a person open to infection.
If someone has sex with an infected person,
and the infected person is in the middle of an active outbreak, it is quite
possible for that person's partner to become infected if genital areas not
covered by the barrier contraceptive are exposed.
For those who are infected, the best remedy
is a strong immune system. In fact, for sexually transmitted viruses like HPV,
the CDC says "In 90% of cases, the body's immune system clears HPV naturally
within two years." But, that's not the case with herpes which stays with a
person for life.
Of course, the best option is to keep from
getting infected in the first place. After an initial period of activity where
there can be up to 5 major outbreaks in a year, Herpes establishes what
scientists call a latent infection. When a virus is latent, it acts as if it
is asleep. It is dormant. The moment the immune system is weakened however,
the Herpes virus can "wake up" and become active again.
Again, the best defense against a latent
herpes or HPV infection is a healthy immune system. That's why the CBCD would
like to point out a Herpes remedy
that boosts the immune system agasint the latent HSV.
"The key to your health is to reduce the
level of the latent viruses in your body to harmless levels." - Dr. Hanan
The name of that antiviral remedy is
Gene-Eden-VIR. This all-natural product was scientifically designed to help
the human body maintain low concentrations of the latent herpes

latent forms of both HSV-1 and HSV-2.
Gene-Eden-VIR is safe. It has been on the
market for over three years, and in that time, no side effects were reported.
